Too many organisations still treat retention as an HR responsibility. It is not.
Retention is a direct outcome of leadership behaviour, decision quality, and organisational culture. People do not leave companies - they leave poor leadership, unclear direction, weak management systems, and broken trust.

Retention becomes a natural business outcome.
When they don’t, no HR policy, benefit scheme, or engagement survey will save the day.
If you want to improve retention, stop delegating it to HR. Start owning it at leadership level. Measure it. Discuss it in board meetings. Link it to leadership performance. Treat it as a business-critical outcome - because that’s exactly what it is.
Strong leadership builds commitment. Weak leadership builds turnover.
